Always with the basic and to know PI architecture, check this document for example

What to ask client?

Basis, infrastructure and endpoint and so on support or assistance. When you work like integration developer you will need to work with another teams. You will need to the integration client security, policy and so on.

What is the important information to note down?

My Ideas/Suggestions.

Where to start?

Check for the various systems in the environment/landscape and understand the connection methodolgies that can be used(Technical Requirements).Analyse the Team size required.

What to ask client?

Ask Client for Timelines and exact business requirements.Various documentation they require(you can also suggest them some).Project budget.

What is the important information to note down?.

Business/Technical requirements.
