Hi,
Mass processing;
During the demand planning process, planners will typically be working with large
amounts of production/location combinations. This may be further complicated by use
of customers, divisions, product Hierarchies, or several other organizational attributes.
An interactive execution of the complete demand planning process is thus not possible.
To simplify and speed up this process, many of the steps will be performed in a batch
or background job that processes many different characteristic value combinations one
after another. SAP refers to this process as Mass Processing.
The demand planning process is normally organized in cycles. At the beginning
of a cycle, new historical data is loaded and characteristic value combinations are
generated through batch processing. Then the forecasts are calculated. Afterwards,
demand planners have time to check their forecasts and make corrections. At the end
of the cycle, the demand plan is calculated and released.
Doing one or a particular task is nothing but background job.
majority of the demand planning process will be performed
by background jobs, planners will be responsible for performing interactive planning
on a periodical basis. It is important that all planners are able to navigate in the
interactive planning table and enter and analyze data.
