Hi Experts,
when i put my soap adapter link in the browser address bar, i am asked with a username and password. i tried these query parameters along with the main link : &sap-client=100&sap-user=xxx&sap-password=yyyy.
still its asking for a username and password. why ?
when i use the link with username and password from the 3rd party application will it still act the same way ?
I see that some have moved on to HTTP adapter, for authentication to happen from the username and password attached as a query string parameters in the link.
why does it work for http adapter and not for soap adapter ?
Even if i can use a http adapter(with username and password on the link), i read that we should never give our username and password on the link like that. If not like that then what other secure ways do i have to pass username and password from my external application to PI.
PI version is 7.01.
The application is outside the enterprise firewall.
your inputs are much appreciated.
Thanks,
Nirmal.

Nirmal,
Https is the only way to secure the userid and password.
The URL format should work with dual stack, try using a numeric password or setting the 'Authentication' parameter in the HTTP header.
You should enable HTTPS as your application is outside the enterprise firewall.

Arun
