PPM Creation- Error Message

Former Member

Hello All,

I am new to SAP APO field, please bare with me If any of my posts include beginner questions.

I am trying to create a PPM for one of the Product in APO, however when I provide the details in the Mode section, an error message is displayed "The only valid unit for SNP PPM is Days".

I selected the option Days in the Measurement unit and it still displays the same error message.

Appreciate if someone could guide me how to go ahead.

Regards,

Jaya

Hi Jaya,

I think this is how it works:

For whatever UOM you use for Days (commercial unit 'D' for example) in the PPM, make sure that:

1. The internal UOM is '10'.

2. The UOM is time based.

3. The UOM has ISO code DAY.

Another way to look at this is that internal UOM '10' needs to be in your APO system. It should also be in your ECC system so that APO T006 UOM table doesn't get overwritten.

Internal unit '10' should be in the time dimension.

Internal unit '10' can have commercial unit 'D' which is what is presented to the outside world.

Double-click on line with unit '10' and verify that the ISO code is DAY.

ISO code DAY can be used for other UOM in the same dimension but it will cause problems with EDI. I don't know why you would want to do it anyway. I just found out the hard way.

I believe these rules are hard-coded in the PPM ABAP code. (I'm not a coder).

Best regards,

Mike
