Output type and IDOC.

HI Gurus,

I am little bit confuse about output determination ( output type ) and IDOC. anyone please tell me , there is some relation between both?

Is IDOC uses output types while transferring data or information from SAP system to non SAP or vice versa ?

Hi Deepak,

IDoc and Output types are related through the Partner Profile setup (Transaction WE20). The Partner can be a Customer/Vendor/Logical System etc. and we send/receive IDocs with that partner. In the Output type, we mention the Partner to whom the IDoc is to be sent.

For this Partner, we then define the Output Type and the Process Code under the Message Control Tab. The Process Code will contain the FM that is to be used to generate the IDoc.
