Attaching a document in SAP PS Network-External Activity

Hi Experts,

We are using External Activity for automatic creation of PR.The requirement to attatch a FILE(word) at EXTERNAL ACTIVITY level and the same document will be used by Purchasing team as a reference to create a PO? Would it be possible to reflect the atatched doc in External activity at PO transaction level.Please advise.

Hi Srini,

Its very much possible using 2 methods,

1. Create PS text with Work Format to External activity. - Its very simplest method, So I prefer to go by this method. 

2. Using Document Management System (DMS)

1) Create a DMS Document T. Code CV01N.

2) Attach a Work file,

3) Right Click & Check In the File

4) Go in "Object Link" Tab and Select "Network"

5) Enter Network and activity No

6) Again Select Purchase order Item in Same Tab.

7) enter PO No

6) Save.

Now your file got attached to service activity as well as PO.

Ask Refer Report CN41N report to see the attachments of project.

What about a URL link? Can we attatch a URL link at External activity level(believe at Long text tab) and pull the same link at PR Transactiona level or PO transaction level?

Hi Srini,

I am not sure how big is the document, you can check with PS text, whether you can incorporate any text for the link or actual text.

Then check whether this text can be captured in PR Item text. This will be updated into PO text also.

Hi Srini,

for attachment of any document SAP Has two functionality:

1. Service for object

2. Using DMS

Service for Object will not available to PO if you attach at external activity in Project.

if you use DMS than you can access same document and attach same at PO also.

Hi Srini,

You need to understand that PO and External activity are different objects in SAP under different domains.. You cannot pull data of external activity ( Documents/links) into PO.. if you do want to achieve it... write a small program read the long text and populate the long text in PO upon save, for the POs created from Project reservations..

There is no standard way of achieving your requriement..
