BAPI for Serial number Assignment

Dear All,

We are in a process to implement serial number concept, Here we need assign Serial numbers to all line items in a delivery document,

for this purpose, Is there any FM or BAPI to update serial numbers in Delivery document? Please suggest if any. or is there any other way to assign serial numbers in delivery document?

Not sure whether you tried to input serial number in delivery and why you were trying for BAPI?  Search SCN or Google with the text "serial number assignment in delivery" so that you will get couple of inputs which includes standard documentation.

Dear Lakshmipathi,

Thanks for reply, Let me explain the business requirement,

We are trying to integrate with third party software where serial numbers are generated and received those serial numbers at the time of GR,

Here We are not assigning serial numbers manually in delivery document. At the time of Delivery, we scan the material by giving Delivery number as Input in the scanning machine,and Assignment of serial number should be automated in SAP through any BAPI or FM based on the data received by Scanner,  that is the basic idea. Please suggest and help.
