Sizing for on premises SAP HANA BOX

Hi All,

We are planning for an on premises SAP HANA BOX. I have gone through many blogs on SAP HANA sizing( it did help but little more clarification 🙂 ) and i am left with few more questions to be answered.

1. We are planning for a SAP HANA box - the hardware sizing is 2.5 TB of HDD and 256 GB of RAM(we are planning for two systems ECC and BI in one box), is this fine?

2. Is there a possibility i can install ECC machine ( Os- Linux, Db- oracle) on the same box where i am installing BI with HANA?( Hardware having two partitions one for ECC and one for BI)?

3. Other Possibilities - I have an ECC ides on Mssql, can i connect my ECC system to HANA box remotely, also BI will be installed on the same HANA box, is this possible?

4. Can i connect my ECC ides remotely to HANA box and also my BI system remotely to HANA box?

Hi Mrigank,

Please find answers:

1. You can use MDC where you can install two systems ECC and BI in one box. Please confirm with SAP for Prod (On cloud its supported), also for Non-Prod its supported on premises.

2. No, HANA and Oracle cannot run on same server. SAP will not support.

3. Yes, you can use MDC and use one as a side-car scenario.

4. Yes, via side car approach.

Thanks Much,

Abhishek
