I tried posting this query on the PP/DS forum, haven't had any luck. Any chance this could be handled in SNP?
We have a Mill, which is the main manufacturing location. Here we have a storage constraint. The warehouse attached to the mill has a max storage capacity of 8 to 10 hours worth of production. Lets say, not more 1000tons can be held there at any given time. This obviously has an impact on how much we can make on our machines. If we don't move the goods made, we'll shut down the machines.
Is there a way to model this constraint into the PP/DS Planning & thereby come up with schedule compatible to the storage capacity we have? OR would this constraint be a consideration on the monthly S&OP Process (i.e. - handled outside the system) thereby setting targets that can match the storage capacities? Note that our machines are capable of producing upto 3000tons per day.
