ORA-01565: error in identifying file with BRTOOLS online backup

Hi Friends,

we are facing issue while taking online backup using brtools below error is comming when we start backup.

BR0051I BRBACKUP 7.40 (13)

BR0055I Start of database backup: berinruj.and 2015-09-06 16:33:33

BR0484I BRBACKUP log file: \oracle\SID\sapbackup\berinruj.and

BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2015-09-06 16:33:34

BR0301E SQL error -1565 at location BrInitOraCreate-5, SQL statement:

'/* BRBACKUP AT PROF_CONN */ CREATE PFILE = '\oracle\SID\11204\database\sapSID

.ora' FROM SPFILE = '\oracle\EMP\11204\database\spfileEMP.ora''

ORA-01565: error in identifying file '\oracle\SID\11204\database\spfileSID.ora

ORA-27046: file size is not a multiple of logical block size

OSD-04012: file size mismatch (OS 5633)

BR0303E Determination of Oracle version failed

BR0056I End of database backup: berinruj.and 2015-09-06 16:33:34

BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2015-09-06 16:33:34

BR0054I BRBACKUP terminated with errors.

System is up and running but while taking backup this issue is comming kindly advice.

Hi Tabrayz,

ORA-01565: error in identifying file '\oracle\SID\11204\database\spfileSID.ora'
ORA-27046: file size is not a multiple of logical block size
OSD-04012: file size mismatch (OS 5633)

Regarding this issue/question, you can check the SAP Notes below

546006 - "Problems with Oracle due to operating system errors" (especially point 16)

917293 - "BR*Tools fail with ORA-27046 at BrInitOraCreate-3"

Hi,

the problems is that someone has edited the file with OS tools and had corrupted the file.

SPFILE must be edited only with Oracle tools.

Restoring the file as you have done is the best solution (others could be to create a pfile and then the spfile from it after starting the DB)
