Hi,
I had an old version of MaxDB Studio 7_9_08_01 which was running very well.
Since a couple of days, the studio desn't want to launch anymore. I can see the process coming up in Task Manager and it dissapears.
I have also tried using a newser version MaxDB Studio 7_9_08_32, but no change.
I have see some XServer in the services which is related to MaxDB, does it needs to be running?
Thanks for your help.
Hi Calin,
You should also verify if java runtime has problem.
Best regards,
James

Thanks for the tip.
There is a problem with Java.
I have reinstalled Java 7 (jre-7u79-windows-x64).
I have also unsintalled MaxDb Studio, erased all sdb folders from Program Files or ProgramData.
Reinstalled MaxDB Studio maxdb-studio-desktop-win-64bit-x86_64-7_9_08_32.
Now when I launch I get an error message to a log file.
Here's the content:

the log continues with endless lines like the last ones...
I have a JAVA_HOME in the environment variables (Windows), if I change it it doesn't seem to bother, the dbstudio.exe gives the same error.
Is there any other env var that should be declared?
Normally a clean installation of Java and MaxDB should setup all necessary variables by themselves right?
When I look into the error lines the jar files it's looking for are correctly placed in the /plugins folder inside "DatabaseStudio" folder.
Hi Calin,
How do you start the db studio? Please open a command prompt as administrator (right click -> run as adminstrator) and then go to the directory where dbstudio.exe located and then
dbstudio.exe -vm "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_45\bin"
Certainly you have to adjust the path so that it is the bin directory of the java installation on your computer.
Cheers,
Péter
Did what you suggested.Same error.
opened a command prompt admin, gone to
c:\sapdb\clients\DatabaseStudio\
then
dbstudio -vm "c:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin"
the splash screen appears shortly, then closes and popup error invites me to see the log file in
c:\Users\myUserxxx\sdb\DatabaseStudio\.configuration\ folder
does it need the jdk maybe?
Hi Calin,
If now java is 1.8 and the bin directory is in the path , then it is likely not a java problem.
There are some configuration files stored in the C:\users\myUserxxx\sdb\DatabaseStudio\.configuration
directory and from the error message it looks like something can not be found.
Please rename the whole DatabaseStudio directory to DatabaseStudio_rem, so that
database studio does not find it on startup. In this case it will create the directory again on startup.
Do you get the same error message after renaming the directory?
Cheers, Péter
The trick worked. Now I can launch MaxDB. Thanks a lot.
It's very strange as when I reinstalled MaxDB I erased that folder.
More, there is a password that maxDB Studio is asking when you launch it, and it kept the old password. This makes me think there are some settings stored in the registry or somewhere else.
Hi Calin,
Yes the XServer should be running to launch the Database Studio.

Deepak Kori
