Component Based Alert: Frequency of Alerts

Hi All,

I come from the Dual Stack version of PI and am trying to implement Component Based Alerting for SAP PO currently.

I needed your help in understanding below:

In Dual Stack, we had the concept of Alert Inbox, so at a time we received only 1 Alert for 1 Interface (1 Alert Rule), once that was marked completed in Alert Rule only then the next Alert would be generated for that specific Alert Rule(Interface).

Now, In SAP PO, what is the concept, How does Component Based Alerting work, For example if one of the Communication Channel is in Error, How many Alerts will be generated? Will we keep getting multiple alerts every time the Job runs?

Please Advise!

Regards,

NehaS

Hi Neha,

no you wont keep getting alerts every time the job runs...job running time only controls in how many minutes the alert job would run to generate alert mails from the already generated alert messages...

You will get an alert only when for ex a receiver channel is in error and someone tries to call it for sending a file to target you get an alert message.....

It has nothing to do with the job execution time.. If in a day you get 10 messages to be passed through a component in error you get 10 alerts...

But if you have set a automatic retry for the failed messages say after every one hour then you get a duplicate alert after each automatic retry(which fails)
