Does SAP require partitioning when running in Oracle?

I noticed that some of our SAP Oracle databases are using the Oracle partitioning and others are not. Is the separate licensed pack 'Oracle Partitioning' required for running any of SAP databases?

SAPnote #740897 answers your question.The Oracle partitioning option is a prerequisite for SAP BI (and SAP systems that use BI components).

Thanks, I thought I saw that in the documentation but wanted to double check.
