Crystal Reports 2008 Viewer w/ ShiftDateTime

Former Member

I have a report using the

ShiftDateTime ({TDM_SF_PRC_HISTORY.CREATION_DATE},"UTC,0","")

It works just great in the editor, but not in the Viewer.

It just will not view unless I take this formula out.

how do I get this to work in the viewer?

Hi Paul,

What version of Crystal Reports are you using?

What type of application are you using to view the report?

Are you getting any errors?

Does the report work in the viewer on the Development machine?

Thanks,

Brian

Using 2011 version for the editor. the formula works fine in it. The viewer on the same machine gives error stating just that there is an error in a formula. I had to do alot of trial to figure out this was the formula.

Paul,

What 'viewer' is it?

Is it the standalone CR Viewer (Free viewer from SAP) or a Viewer embedded in some custom app?

Using Crystal Reports Viewer 2008  version 12.2.202.r566

Developer is Crystal Reports 2011 version 14.0.2.364

Another twist is that I can view a different report that was created a few years ago with the same formula and it views fine as well.

Issue is just with new report that has been developed and viewing it.

Thanks so much for attempting to help.

Hi Paul

I'd suggest using the CR 2013 viewer from here:

I download and tried, but still got the exact same error.

"This report contains invalid Crystal Report formulas than cannot be evaluated"

Paul, can you attach the report here - with saved data please.

You will have to rename it to .txt, then click on Use advanced editor and attach there.

I attached, hope it works.

The column "CREATION DATE" is the UTC time stamp.

My formula is on the "PROCESS NODE CREATION" that will not view.

Hi Paul

I have no idea what you attached, but it is not the report. I can ope it up in a text editor and see plain text. E.g.;

Model Serie

            DE S DAY

CN_TRUCK_M Schedule

That looks like some export (CSC / TXT / XLS)?

I need the actual report. E.g.; say teh report is called "test.rpt". Rename that to test.txt and attach. Do make sure the report has saved data (under File | Options)

I keep getting this error when I try to attach it and post it.

"The content type of this attachment is not allowed"

Paul,

You cannot attach a .rpt report without changing its extension to .txt.

First save the report 'with data'. Next, change its extension from .rpt to .txt.

Otherwise, you may send the .rpt file (with data) to my email address (address is in my SCN profile) and I'll try to attach it here.

Yes,

That is what I did.

It will not let me post the .txt file.

Attached is the report for anyone willing to assist.

Paul, I'd like you to add the special field N of M to the report. Save. Run the report. Save it and now try to run it in the viewer.

If you are talking about the Special Fields, Page N of M, I added it, saved, run report, saved, and still will not open in the viewer.

OK. So the issue is the formula that uses ShiftDateTime. If you comment this out, the viewer works fine.

Interestingly, designer is OK as is a .NET App.

Can this really be considered a problem with a viewer service pack when the exact same formula can be viewed in a different report? Are there settings or things I could be missing on my report to get it to work in the viewer?

Hi Paul,

Have you tried deleting the formula from the report and recreating it?  Don't copy and paste just retype the formula from scratch.  I've had strange things happen and I've seen reports hold onto stuff internally.

I've had to recreate a report from scratch because I knew it should work but didn't.  With pretty much nothing different, the new version worked.

Good luck,

Brian
