HI,

Installing Diagnostic Agent on Server with <SID>ADM.

Been looking for a solution, nothing seems be be working.

Getting the following error:

Running msiexec failed with return code 1603: Fatal error during installation.

I have created TMP folders. Tried moving the VCREDIST folder temporarily to another location from NTPATCH folder.

Restarted Server, Restarted SAPINST. Problem still persist.

Any Assistance you could provide will be much appreciated.

Thank You

Regards,

Johann

Hello Johann,

Please check following SAP note:-

1236002 - Error during the SAP MMC MSI installation or uninstallation

Hi Anand,

Thank you for the Note: Its seems your note is the correct one. However i am unable to uninstall/Repair the MMC SNAP-IN.

Will not allow me to uninstall no error. Just keeps asking for the correct sapmmcX64u.msi

I have pointed it to more than one location where the file is stored. Still does not want to remove.

Unfortunately i can only work on the server after hours as its live. Will try one more attempt this evening.

If you have any other suggestion please let me know.

Thank You

Johann

Hi Johann,

Did you try the "Microsoft Fix-It" workaround as described in Note 1236002 for uninstalling the old SAPMMC when you no longer have access to the original msi file?

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Johann,

There is a bug has been seen from january 2015 with the vcredist file.

Download the latest SWPM from the service market place and install the Diagnostic agent using SWPM.

Hopefully it will resolve the issue.

Also let us know the OS version of the server.so that we can give you some more idea

Hi Ashutosh,

Thank for the mail. I actually always use the latest available tools when performing a task. Removes any doubt of possible issues that might arise as a result.

So SWPM is latest. Used same SWPM to install on 6 other systems everything else went fine.

System is MS Server 2012 R2 with MS SQL 2012 running SAP EP.

Running sapinst with SIDADM user, user has domain local admin rights as per usual.

Cant uninstall Snap-In, system wont allow. I will try it again after a system restart this evening.

Not sure what else might be causing it.

Johann

Hi Johann,

Can you please tell us the version of SWPM.

Workround : Search for the vcredist_msi file in C drive. Copy the file and paste it in NTPATCH folder of SWPM.

Hi Johann,

What's your OS type, if it Unix - can you try installing with root user id; as SAP recommends to use same.

Make sure that the root user has not set any environment variables for a different SAP system or database.

Hi Jaskirat,

This is a MS Server 2008 with MS SQL.

Logged on as SIDADM, user has local admin and domain rights.

This is an old ERP System. Just in the process of reinstalling Diagnostic Agent with newer version.

Thank you

Johann,

Try with Administrator instead of SIDADM.

Johann,

On this case go ahead and proceed as the following.

1. Stop SWPM;

2. Delete and re-create all related services on Windows using the "sapstartsrv -t" command. Make sure to take a note of which profiles they're using and select the same ones upon the creation of the services.

3. Start these services, open the SAP MMC and make sure your instances will show up correctly;

4. Restart SWPM and continue from the point where you previously stopped.

Let me know if this works.

Regards,

Ricardo
