Hi!
Would appreciate your help in confirming if Oracle 12c is supported under Oracle Linux 5.
According to the PAM isn't, but Oracle's documentation seems to indicate that one can use Oracle 12c under OL5, but the PAM has a note that states that the updated information is in the Marketplace and therefore the PAM may not be accurate (if read it well).
Since there are some kernel (7.2x) that run under OL5, putting all together could indicate that it would be supported.
Wonder if someone can bring some light on this.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Joao
Hi,
I think your question is not correct.
One thing is in what operating systems the RDBMS 12c can be installed [addressed in several Oracle support notes like Oracle Database (RDBMS) on Unix AIX,HP-UX,Linux,Solaris and MS Windows Operating Systems Installation and Configuration Requirements Quick Reference (12.1) (Doc ID 1587357.1)] and another totally different on what of those OS SAP supports what SAP kernels (addressed in PAM)
Therefore, for SAP you must follow the PAM for your specific SAP release/kernel, not the "pure" Oracle one, therefore if the PAM indicate that OEL 5 is NOT supported then it is not unless you find a specific note for a specific SAP product.
SAP note 1914631 indicates
At least SAP Kernel version 7.21_EXT is required for Oracle 12c
and that kernel support from OEL 6
No more information can be provided for the details you have provided
