(102) RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: Connect to message server host failed

Dear Experts,

I am getting the following error while trying to excute a WebDynpro application from NWDS Version: 7.0.09.Our WAS installation NW04s Sp9.

com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: Connect to message server host failed Connect_PM TYPE=B MSHOST=de1ap01 GROUP=ECC R3NAME=DE1 MSSERV=sapmsDE1 PCS=1 ERROR service 'sapmsDE1' unknown TIME Tue Apr 17 14:16:03 2007 RELEASE 700 COMPONENT NI (network interface) VERSION 38 RC -3 MODULE ninti.c LINE 530 DETAIL NiPGetServByName2: service 'sapmsDE1' not found SYSTEM CALL getservbyname_r COUNTER 4

I went through some of the posts in the forum and tried changing the service file on my machine by putting the entires corresponding to 'sapmsDE1'.Also we made the same entry on the server machine without any luck.

Another observation is that the application works fine from within the portal e.g as a webdynpro iView.Only when it is exceuted outside from NWDS it gives this error.

I feel something could be wrong in the SLD config. Will appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Karambir Singh

hi

Pls check whether the TEST and PING returns no error for your JCO destinations in your Content Administration Tool !

If it returns same RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION, then do as follows.

make entries in the services file in your server Dir. path -> c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services

sapmsDE1 3600/tcp # R/3 System message service port

Check your message port number with your R/3 Basis Admin.Default is

36[instance number]

And also in host file

R/3 IP Addr R/3 Server Host Name # SAP R/3 System

for ex:

192.168.40.71 PRODNET # PRODNET System Network IP

Hope it helps.
