Migrating data from cProjects 3.1 (WAS) to cProjects 4.0 ERP2005 ECC 6.0

As is situation:

We have been running cProjects ver. 3.1 for some time now.

On the WAS-server there are some 400 projects. The R/3 system

is ver. 4.7, which is connected to the WAS server

(distribution model, RFC and so on).

To be situation:

The R/3 platform will be upgraded to ERP2005 ECC 6.0.

We will the start using cProjects 4.0 as part of the R/3 core

meaning no WAS.

We will the – if possible – migrate the projects from the WAS server

to the R/3 platform. Or as an alternative create the projects again.

To facilitate continuity in CO-reporting we would like the projects

to be allocated to the same Internal Order. The CPR1 orders are on

the R/3 system before as well as after the upgrade of the R/3 platform.

The CPR1 orders were created/replicated while running cProjects ver. 3.1.

After the upgrade there is no longer a WAS server.

My question is: the projects created anew or migrated to cProjects 4.0,

can you allocate the already existing internal orders (CPR1) to these projects?

A second question: are there any tools/methods with which you

can migrate the projects from ver. 3.1 on the WAS to cProjects 4.0 as

part of the core of ERP2005?

Hi Jorgen,

Talked with other devleoper and two SAP consultants. The result is unfortuenately not possible in standard. The internal orders which were created by cProject 3.1, can NOT be used in the cProject 4.0 in your case:

System A System B

cProject 3.1 R/3 470

PD 1111 -

> Internal order 4711

upgrade

ECC 6.0 + cProject 4.0

The cut of system connetion between system A und System B does not help anything. And it is unfortunenately not possible to cut the linkage between project in cProject 3.1 and internal order.

The best recommendation I can give, is to finish the project in cProject 3.1. It is the most safe way.

A modifcation, never tested, consider the risiks!, is to remove the involved database entry in the table IAOM_ASSIGNMENTS. Please in any case make a copy before deletion and tested in a test system. After it is done, the internal orders are free for the assignement.

Kind regards,

Zhenbo

Problem with space, the correct should be:

System A ............................System B

cProject 3.1.............................R/3 470

PD 1111----

> Internal order 4711

.................................................... |

.................................................... | upgrade

.....................................................|

...................................... ECC 6.0 + cProject 4.0

Hi,

We tried to do the same thing.

What happened that since cProjects 3.1 is on ECC 5.0 and cProjects 4.0 is on ECC 6.0 there exists a version difference in SAP.

SAP recommends that such a data transfer should not be done since there's a difference in table structures.

We tried to transfer all customising (SPRO - IMG) data via client copy and transport request, which we manage to achieve but then the new features of ECC 6.0 i.e cProjects 4.0 were not copied. Also table structures of IMG SPRO data was also modified.

Internal orders are unique and created every time a project is replicated. So i am not sure whether same internal orders can be assigned once again. As far as assignment of CPR1 order type is concerned, i guess we can assign that even after you migrate but the existing data of project costs on internal orders in cProjects 3.1 i guess will not be copied as it new system it will create new orders automatically.

Hope this satisfies your query.

If you manage to crack it or even find some new leads then please do reply back.

Regards;
