ECC6 EHP7 compatibility with BW 3.5

Hi,

We plan to upgrade from ECC6 EHP4 to EHP7. We would like to know EHP7 compatibility with the following SAP systems currently existing in the landscape:

SAP BW 3.5   (release 640)

SAP SCM 4.10     (release 640)

SAP PI 7.1   (release 710)

Do we have to consider upgrading above three systems also, is it mandatory.

I would really appreciate your suggestions and also if you can help with relevant document and notes.

Before upgrade the ERP system to EHP7, you have to upgrade other systems to NW 7.3, Kindly refer the SAP Note attached the PDF file.

Hi Sriram,

I have gone through that note, Can you still suggest specially on PI 7.1.

Dont you think PI 7.1 should technically work with ECC6 EHP7, what if we dont want to upgrade PI to 7.3, what are the impacts. Do we have any note which lists down the impacts or issues which may arise by not upgrading to Netweaver 7.3.

In a simple way, you are going to upgrade the SAP ERP 6 EHPfrom 4 to 7  other supporting systems like SAP BI, XI/PI should be on NW 7.3 with latest SP level (Lower version NW 7.0 Ehp 1,2,3,4,5 will not supported to EHP 7).

In your case first step you have to upgrade the SAP BI & XI/PI system to NW 7.3 and then start upgrade the SAP ERP 6 EHP 4 to 7

Dear Aayush,

SAP BW 3.5   (release 640) :

Independent upgrade to ERP 6.0 EHP7 is not possible for BW system. You have to upgrade BW system along with the ECC.

SAP SCM 4.10     (release 640) :

You dont need to upgrade the SCM system. Upgarde of ECC system is not dependent on SCM scenario.

SAP PI 7.1   (release 710)

As per the SAP recommendation , PI system has to be the first system to upgrade and it has to be on higher release compare to other system in the landscape.

So you have to upgrade the PI system to SAP netweaver 7.4.

Also do follow the Upgrade Dependency Analyzer

You are right for BW3.5, UDA will prompt with message "Independent upgrade not possible".

Appreciate your suggestion on SCM.

But dont you think PI 7.1 should technically work with EHP7. (although SAP recommends to upgrade). We have minimum use of PI, do you think if we dont upgrade PI to 7.3 (min required for EHP7) then there would be any issues.

Can you help with notes which talk about technical issues or impact if not upgraded to 7.3.
