Alert flooding : one single alert for yellow threshold ?

Hello,

We are runnning SAP SLM 7.1 ,SPS10.

We are currently being flooded by thousands of alerts being generated by the same metrics.

We receive hundreds of similar alerts for the very same metric :

Here is an example of a  a metric being trigerred hundreds of times , once the yellow threeshold is reached

I understand that I can adjust the threeshold but that is not the point here.

My point is that I was expecting to receive one single alert once the yello threshold is reached, and another alert once the red alert is reached.

.... not redundant emails every 5 minutes.

Any idea would be higly appreciated.

Solved indeed.

No need to create a notification variant.

Just change the configuration :

I think I found out where the periodic 5 minutes notifications are being configured, : Notifications, Advance settings. I tried to change the settings but obvisouly it is greyed out , even though I am already in Change Mode/Expert Mode

Anyone know how to change those advanced notification settings ?

please check by above post, you can create your own alert variant.

Hi Rahul

Also, define your own vairant in the notification tab, make it as active,

Add recipient and then only you will be able to use the advance settings.

Hi Rahul,

when you are configuring the technical/system monitoring , you will define it will geneate how many alerts for the occurences in red threshold,

Wwhere can you define the number of alerts generated, where is defined the "alert grouping" option  ?

Could you please precisely indicate where such features could be configured ?

Hi Rahul,

I am sorry got confused between alerts and notification.

Please can you check in the below areas.

1. Creat alert variants: Technical monitoring step 2.3-> Notification tab Maintain notification Variants.

There you can go to advance settings or implement your own BADI in alert consumer variant.

2. Extend the data collection in the metric if the alert is if of low priority.

3. Change the house keeping jobs or configure auto-alert confirmation.

4. We usually schedule the notifications from workcenter in the alert grouping manually.
