The goal of collaborative demand planning is to exchange period-based key figures between manufacturers and retailers in order to reach a consensus-based forecast.
i know amount, quantity, unit comes under keyfigure how to relate this to the above sentence wats the concept of this line..
Can any one explain me..
Thanks in advance.
What this essentially means is that through collaborative demand planning your business partner can view and manage demand related keyfigures for defined periods. Don't take the phrase "period-based" keyfigures as a new technical term. It is eferring to the fact that data in keyfigures is in defined periods or time buckets which can be days, weeks, months etc. Nothing on the keyfigure definition.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Somnath

Collaborative planning is used between two systems - usually between manufacturer and customer
Consensus based forecast is a process by which the two parties interact to arrive at a single forecast number that is part of the planning process from that point on.
The technology is usually internet based and the would mean the manufacturer getting an insight of the customers Forecast (Key figure) for say the next 12 months in weekly buckets (period based) and using it to work on their plan and sending back what they can confirm to supply
