Hello everyone,
We have a NW 7.4 SPS 08 system. Now need to upgrade it to NW 7.4 SPS 10.
Can we do it using SPAM or do we need to use SUM for this?
Thanks and Regards,
Abhishek Mondal
Hi Abhishek,
Both tools can be used. But always better to go with SUM. SUM has several advantages compared to SPAM.
If using SPAM first update SPAM tool.

Hi abhishek,
SAPKB74008 cannot be installed from SPAM. it shows an error if you try to install this SP. SUM should be used.
also it is better to use SUM (Latest version) to import SPs.

Either use SPAM or SUM for SP upgrades . SUM , you will have few advanced options as per SAP.
If you use SPAM, make sure to update with latest SPAM/SAINT component .

Hi Abhishek
For upgrade you have to use the SUM tool. (not on SWPM). You have to refer the SAP upgrade guide from SAP service market place, SAP new guide link SAP NetWeaver Guide Finder.

Hello Abhishek,
For this task you can use SUM and SPAM too. In general, with SUM you can do more.
But this note tells the story (assuming you have ABAP stacks): 1803986 - Rules to use SUM or SPAM/SAINT to apply SPs for ABAP stacks.
The latest tools can be downloaded from the SMP.

Peter
