Hi Experts,
The update process is showing "Initial" for long time.
Please advise how to resolve this.
regards,
Kiran.
Hi Kiran,
Can you give some more information please:
1. What are you updating?
2. Which system?
3. Is this in SM50
3.1 if so, have you checked the status of the update SM13 > Administration
3.2 what does the system log say.
Thanks
Graham

Hello,
Try manually processing the updates from SM13 (select the update and click at "repeat").
About the root cause, verify the system log entries (transaction SM21) from around the time seen at the update requests (before you try to manually reprocess them ).
If you see something related to a "dispatcher queue overflow" or "cannot add request to the UPD queue", it would seem that too many update requests were created in a short period of time, or a performance related issue occurred making the updates become slow and pile up.

Isaías
Hello Kiran,
If the dump was related to the update requests, I would expect not to see them as "initial". They should have changed to "error" status.
How many update work processes do you have in each instance?
How many update requests are "initial" at SM13?
What is the time difference between the oldest and newest record of this group of pending/affected updates?
What do you see at the transaction SM21, around the time of the oldest record of this group of updates?
Regards,
Isaías
