SWPM10SP08_04 hangs/freezes without any Logfile entry

Dear Colleagues, Dear Experts,

following issue during my homo-systemcopy (distributed, exp/imp) for an J2ee Instance.

System Copy/Target System/Distributed System/ AS JAVA..

of J2ee Instance with 740 netwaver.

The SAPinst/SWPM hangs and nothing happens at all. I can't see any errors in the sapinstlogs

I also tried an older swpm version but the same behavior.

On some servers of the sap installtion the swpm is running normal, i was able to export the java dump but on other server the swpm is hanging or. freezes whithout any information or errormessage.

Any suggestion what can be the reason for that strange behavior.

The Environment is:

Database DB2 10.5.04

OS: RedHat Linux

ECC60EHP7 NW740

I will reward every helpfull answer with Points

hi Julius,

As your using Root user, do start the SWPM by setting up the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, SAPINST_JAVA_HOME & JAVA_HOME path as the old ways.

This will resolve the issue, also do verify your sapstartsrv & sapcontrol files are running and detecting the instances.

Let us know if you need any further help.

I tested your mentioned solution.

I solved it temporary as I switched the package to a another clusternode where the swmp runs without errors.

I try to solve the issue now...

thx for you support ram.

Hi Julius,

Have your tried to use the SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME parameter when your in cluster environment.

Along with above parameters, then it should work.

Let me know if you need any further help on this.

Hi Julius ,

This is just a hunch based on your screen shot . But you may try the same

1 ) Remove the daaadm user from the Os system .

2. Check the ulimit for the above user and other users <sid>adm, db2adm etc

1952443 - No more processes

1827960 - Operating system limits for SAP instances

Thanks ,

Hi Manu,

great thx **solved**

You pointed me in the rigtht direction, I was able now to solve the issue with the hanging sapinst/swpm.

It was releated to the user daaadm (solutionmanager diagnostics-user) and the user limits for processes caused that issue.

solution was:

ulimit -u unlimited <user>

max user processes              (-u) unlimited
