PPDS Vs. CTM?

Former Member

Dear Gurus,

I'm new to APO. My company already implement DP & SNP (with running CTM) for 20s DC & 3 production plant (all are planned together).

Master data: material, location, transportation lane, PDS for SNP & PPDS are CIFed from R3.

1. Forecast is entered at DP,
2. Then approved forecast released to SNP and also to R3
3. Running CTM

On CTM profile, we already choose PPDS as the order category.

Please help me to understand, what is the benefit of PPDS module that haven't been used by my company?

Is there anything in PPDS that can be implemented?

Thanks a lot.

Chang

NOT as to what you do within CTM; but here's my 2 cents for the Detail Scheduling:

CTM is great at generating feasible plan based on order base prioritization.  However PPDS support a much more variety of "Detail Scheduling Capability" i.e. Sequencing of your planned PPDS order. E.g. CDP (Characteristics Dependent Planning), Block Planning, Production Campaign & Setup Optimization are all available within PPDS only. Of course, this added capability comes with its own additional master data requirement and trade-off.
