Hi all,
There are plenty of procedures for converting HANA from a single database to multi-tenant but not the other way around.
What would be the procedure for going from multi-tenant back to single system?
Can you restore the backup of a tenant database into a single system?
Regards,
Sander
Hi Sander,
As of SPS09 coverting from Multitenant system to single container system is an irrevocable change
Please refer the below note to confirm the same

Hope this helps

Hi Sunil,
I read that one and understood there is no script to convert the system back to single mode.
However it would be quite something if you also cannot restore a tennant db into a single system. That would mean you have to do an export/import to migrate back.
Quite a lot of work compared to going from single to multi!

In our company, we converted a multitenant db to single-db with the copy of the database as a system copy procedure
There isn't other procedure

The documentation is quite clear on this by stating
You can convert an SAP HANA system to support multitenant database containers. Converting an SAP HANA system to a multiple-container system is permanent and cannot be reversed.
So, no, there is no supported way "back" for the whole database.
You can however, copy the database to a system that has no other tenants. Which would give you mostly the same situation as a non MDC instance.

Anyone here any experience with cross restoring databases from single to multi or vice versa?
