Maintain Characteristics of material using Configuration variant of configurable material

Hi,

In ECC we have option to maintain material characteristics using the configuration variant of configurable material under MRP3 tab . I want to implement the similar functionality in MDG using change request UI.

In MM model, there is an attribute STDPD(configurable material) under MRP data and I have enabled it , but there is no option to select the characteristics on change request UI. Please let me know the approach if anybody implemented this.
