Compatibility between SAP PI 7.0 and backend system running on Netweaver 7.4

Hello!

We have SAP PI 7.0 and some other SAP systems on 7.0.

There are RFC, XI proxy and IDoc communications between SAP PI and backend systems.

We are going to launch another BW backend system with HANA running on NW 7.4.

Will there be any problem when connecting this new system and existing SAP PI 7.0 using RFC, XI and IDoc channels?

Best regards,

Andrey Petin

Hi Andrey,

Theoretically, there should not be any problem. We've had a 7.11 connected to a 7.4 BW, but of course it is ideal to have the PI system having a version greater than or equal to the SAP system that it is connected to.

Thank you Mark.

Do you know whether there is any official compatibility matrix which describes communication between SAP systems?

Hi Andrey,

Unfortunately no The only limitation of not being in sync with the 7.4 BW is that you miss out a lot of improvements in your PI system.

Hello Mark.

Could you please tell me what types of connections you have between 7.4 BW and 7.11 PI.

Is it RFC or proxy or both?

Best regards,

Andrey

Hi Andrey,

Both RFC and Abap proxies are used.
