Derived Depreciation Area didn´t work as Expected

Hello Everybody.

Hope things are good for you all.

My name is Alberto Santos. I´m writting from Brazil.

Could you please help me with an issue regarding Derived Depr Area ?
Derived Depr Area didn´t work as Expected here.
We have been configurated the Derived Depreciation Area that post
Depreciation values in General Ledger.
It is a result between Dep Area 70 less Dep Area 01, as following
below:

Area 71 = Area 70 - Area 01.

Each Dep Area has your own Depreciation Key. Except the Derived Dep
Area71 (Why is not allowed assign Dep Key to the Derived Dep Areas ?)
The usefull life are different to each Dep Area (Area 01 and Area 70).
Dep Area 70 Does not post.
We need that the Planned Depreciation ends for the Derived Dep Area 71,
When the Net Book Value = 0,00 to the Area 70.
How should us proceed to stop the calculations to Depreciation for a
Derived Depreciation Area ?

Area 01 has Usefull Life = 30
Area 70 has Usefull Life = 10

So, Net Book Values will finish first for Dep Area 70 than Dep Area 01 and SAP will continue do the calculations for Dep Area 71 (Derived Dep Area). This is wrong.

Do you have some ideas how can I solve this Issue ?

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Best Regards,

Alberto Santos

Hi,

According to me the purpose of Derived Depreciation is to have the summation or difference between 2 different depreciation areas. For derived depreciation the same will not be posting any values in the system. It will be only for reporting purpose. e.g 2 depreciation areas are there 01 is Book Depreciation, 02 is Revaluation Depreciation Area. Now you can create Depreciation Area 03 as derived depreciation which is 01+02. In asset master also no values can be entered in the Derived Depreciation Area as then it will not work for the main purpose for which it is created. Your requirement can be sufficed by using a Real Depreciation Area for reporting purpose.

Malhar.

Hi Malhar,

Thanks for your cooperation.

If you have a look on the OADB Transaction, you will see a field to be flagged called ¨Derived Depreciation Area As Real Area. If you set this flag then the Dep Area becomes a Real Area and can post in General Ledger.

This is working.

The problem is when the usefull life ends for one of the Dep Areas (in my case When Area 70 ends) and the Dep Area 71 still continue do the calculations for the Depreciation Amounts.

Best Regards,

Alberto
