We are due to use PPM 6.0.
There will be no Project Management piece and the requirement is to link the Portfolio Item to the PS Project (without having the PPM Project in between). The overall idea is to link the Portfolio Item to the PS Project and have the Financial Data to show in Portfolio Item across the Financial Groups and Views. Is this possible in the standard?
Overall, without using the PPM Project, is it possible to link the Portfolio Item to a PS Project and have the financial data flow between the two? We know this is possible, but does this require any enhancement effort?
Dear Deepak,
yes - it´s possible to link a portfolio item to a PS-project and to transfer the costs from the PS-project to the item which are displayed in the financial groups/views/categories.
Information can you find in the online documentation:
Financial and Capacity Planning - SAP Portfolio and Project Management - SAP Library
Chapter: Financial and Capacity planning
Chapter: Integration for Item
Also follow up the steps as described in the Configuration Guide (attached to note 2026421)
"Defining Integration with Project System (PS) ",... "Financial and Capacity Planning".
Best regards,
Judith

Hi Judith,
Thanks for the details.
We know this is possible.
What we are looking at is:
- if this is possible without using the Proect Management piece (cProjects)
- and if this is possible without an enhancement
Summary:
What we are looking at is the possibility of linking a Portfolio Item with a PS Project and getting the costs from the PS WBS to flow to the Financial Planning views in PPM (without any develiopment).
Please advise.
We are using PPM 6.0.
Thanks.
Dear Deepak,
when a PS project should be automatically created based on the item the following
customizing must be maintained:
Portfolio Management > Global Customizing > Portfolio-Independent Settings > Map
item type to Project or PS (or Map Item Template to Project Template or PS project).
In the customizing "Common Functions > DFM > Define DFM Object Link types" the
object type "0INMPSPD" can be used or a copy of it.
The parameters logical system and destination must be maintained.
The used connections must be maintained in SM59.
To receive the costs from PS-project the cost elements must be maintained in:
Portfolio Management > Base System Interfaces > Financial Planning Settings <
Define Financial Planning Settings > Map financial View to Cost elements.
Best regards,
Judith
