How to understand the content of "SYS"."OBJECT_DEPENDENCIES"

Hi experts,

I used "SYS"."OBJECT_DEPENDENCIES" to find out where my table in HANA is used. In the field "DEPENDENT_OBJECT_NAME" I got the entries like below: 1. package_name/view_name

2. package_name/view_name/field_name/hier.

3. package_name/view_name/hier/view_name

The 1. entry is easy to understand. what do the 2. and 3. entry mean?

Best regards,

Zhijian

Please see the documentation and use the forum search. This had been discussed already.

Hi Lars,

I do have found some discussions about this view. But I couldn't find out what "field_name" and "hier" in the 2. and 3. entry mean?

if the entry like package_name/view_name, it is easy to understand. This view use directly/indirectly my table, depending on "Dependency_TYPE". But what is about entry 2 and 3?

Regards,

Zhijian

Hello,

when you create any view, it has many dependencies. Those dependency details you can see in the "_sys_bic" column views [ nothing but hierarchy]  you can open that and see for more details,

for example,

hope this will help you to understand,

Hi Gowirsankar,

now I got the idea from you. The entry 2 and 3 in my example are actually also views, but they are the automatically generated column views from the system.

Many thanks,

Zhijian
