Russian text doesn't display correctly in data preview.

Hi Lars,

I am on SPS09 now. I did as you said above, and changed the locale of my user to Russian, then logged off and back on, but I am still facing difficulties.

I have a .csv with Russian text (Отделение полиции). It imports into HANA fine, but when I do the data preview all the text is displayed as ??????

Can you please advise what I am doing wrong here?

Do you have the same effect when looking at the data via plain SQL instead of data preview?

This doesn't sound as if the default language for the session is related but rather how the text gets interpreted by the frontend OR (big or) the import used a wrong code page.

I'd guess it's the later (just gut feeling).

What happens if you insert russian characters via INSERT into the table? Does that display correctly?

Hi Lars,

Okay, will do in the future.

When I did an insert into the table the text displayed properly, so I think you were right about the wrong code page on import.

Instead of importing it as a .csv I changed it to an .xlsx and it imported correctly.
