Aggregation node in calc view

Hello All,

I am getting confused with the basic purpose of the aggregation node in calculation view. If there are metrics and i choose "SUM" as aggregation it will get aggregated based on other dimensions,isn't it? If suppose i have sale order and item number as well in the dimension list and the net price is chosen as a metric, then there will not be any aggregation in the output i.e the output will be displayed for all available sale order and its items. In that case what is the purpose of aggregation? Please correct me if my understaning is incorrect.

Thanks Gowrishanakr. This cleared my doubt. So to summarize it, we are marking the measures as aggregates and that it would aggregate on "SUM".If i use sale order and item both in the o/p there would not be any aggregation but if i remove item and only have the sales order then the measures get summed up and display the output at the sale order header level.Am i correct?
