When using the Rules manager and creating a new formatting rule, my bar chart turns out from its original color to grey without applying the defined format and générâtes the enclosed eror message.

Hi Charlotte - reading the SAP Help it says at http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/vi01/en/lum_127_user_en.pdf

"

Select Format, choose the appearance of data points that meet the condition, and select OK.

For bar and column charts, only the background color can be applied. Crosstabs can display the

background color as well as the text style that you set."

Could that be what you are experiencing?  Only the background color is updated?

Charlotte - I think I follow this now - you need to put the color of the "fill" in your rule - see my screen shot below (forgive the color "pink"):

thanks Tammy

you were right now my bars are red

the only think is when applying the red to text the labels stay black and don't turn to red
