Dependency usage through Maintenance Plans

Dear Experts,

We would like to know if the Multiple characteristic value using a dependency can be defaulted while generating orders from maintenance plans?

We have a scenario where a tasklist comprises of operations and sub operations and the depencencies are assigned to sub operations.

We want to set the chanacteristic value automaticallly as  the maintenance package where maintenance package short text say 1M, 3M  matches with the characteristic value which is assigned to tasklist sub operations.

Is there a way to automaticlly derive this value using reference characteristic or any other method.

Have tried using refernce chanacteristic referring to structure RMIPM but it does not work?
