hdbrsutil on SPS09

Dear SCN,

We are working on a new HANA landscape setup on SPS09 with Multitenant Database

Started noticing some OS processes that run under as hdbrsutil

It runs under the sidadm account and accesses the multitenant index server files on the ports 3XX40

I have tried looking for more documentation on this process in the Administration guide for SPS09 and do not find any information

Would be good to understand the significance of this process

NOTE: I am not referring to hdbnsutil it is hdbrsutil so please do not send any response thinking it is a typo

Sunil

Hello Sunil,

Some information about process hdbrsutil is recorded in note 2159435 - How-to: Keeping SAP HANA row store in memory when restarting.

In order to keep the shared memory while SAP HANA is stopped, a process called hdbrsutil is started and the shared memory is assigned to it. Once the indexserver is restarted, hdbrsutil is terminated. The hdbrsutil process documents its activities in trace files with the naming convention rsutil_<host>.<indexserver_port>.<counter>.trc. If the preconditions aren't satisfied, the hdbrsutil process isn't started.

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Ning Tong
