content server db cannot start after install 7.3.0.62

Hi All,

I have a very old content server which running sapdb 7.3.0.35, I need migrate it to latest version. I have checked SCN/service market, and learned that I need update it from 7.3.0.35 to 7.3.0.62 at first, then it will be able to use backup/restore to get it to 7.5/7.6, then another backup/restore to 7.8/7.9. I have downloaded 7.3.0.62 sar file and uncared it. I installed the 62 patch by sdbinst and it say installation successfully. but after that, the database cannot be started, the error message show(from file knldiag.err):

Hi,

do not use 'sdbinst' for this, it only installs/updates the database software, but not the database itself.
To upgrade your database, you need to run 'sdbupd'.

Btw. both sdbinst and sdbupd do write a log file I think in the <independent_data_path>/wrk directory...

Hi Thorsten,

I have tried with sdbupd for it before, it gave me another error. So I restored the machine snapshot back and tried with sdbinst this time. the installation  log file attached, thanks for your help!
