Vendor replication failing to SRM due to duplicate DUNS number

Hi SRM/MM Experts,

While replicating vendors with duplicate DUNS from SAP MM server to SAP SRM(version 5) server in our SAP landscape, below error message is encountered and logged in transaction SLG1(Object : BBPGETVD) in the SRM server, leading such a vendor from not successfully replicating to the SRM server :

Vendor Already Exists Business Partner:<Vendor account ID>  Dun & Bradstreet Number:<DUNS number>

The vendors having multiple offices/branches are providing procurement services to our organization, hence vendors with different addresses with same DUNS number needs to be created with multiple vendor IDs in our SAP MM server however such vendors IDs with duplicate DUNS are been repeatedly left out from replicating to SRM ending up into the above mentioned error. This renders such vendors unavailable for SRM purchases and derails our procurement framework model.

The question is - Is it fundamentally not possible to replicate SAP vendors IDs with duplicate DUNS from SAP MM to SRM 5 and if so why ? If no, could you please suggest what possible steps needs to be taken by our organization's team to get past the above mentioned error ? If yes, is this limitation being overcome in SAP SRM 7, which can make SRM 7 upgrade drive attractive for us ?

Also, is there any SAP Note and/or SAP standard documentation and/or SAP wiki available about this topic giving more insight into SAP's perspective and rationale on the DUNS validation in the SAP architecture, if so please share the same with me.

Many thanks for your feedback, suggestions, feasible workarounds and support in advance.

Best Regards,

Vivek

Hi Vivek

If you need to map a vendor to the DUNS number coming from ECC you must put your logic

Ideally for 2 vendors to be replicated to SRM there should be something differtent about those 2 entries .. check if the same vendor # is  extended for different company codes.

maybe the same vendor might have been created saperately for two different company codes with same address data. If one vendor is replicated to SRM, you cant replicate the other vendor, due to address existence.

Go into Tx BP in SRM, search vendors with address number or the BP and see if the 2 vendors have something different ?

Solution will be, extend the existing and replicated vendor to a different company code in ECC/R3 and then run BBPGETVD orChange the address of the new vendor and replicate.

it should work.

Hi Vinita,

Thanks for your reply and explanations.

Unfortunately, the requirement is to maintain the multiple vendors ids with the same company code. Nevertheless, as I mentioned already, the addresses of such multiple vendor ids are different attributing to the different branches/offices where the same vendor operates from, although with exactly the same DUNS number. This vendor scenario replication to SRM results into the SAP error mentioned in my first post.

Is there any SAP note / documentation around this subject, I tried finding on Servicemarketplace already but couldn't get hold of one so far.

Many thanks for your further suggestions and pointers to solve this riddle in advance.

Best Regards,

Vivek
