SAP PO 7.31 or SAP PO 7.4

Hi folks,

We are thinking about upgrading our SAP PO 7.31 SP04 to one of the latest SPs.

I have been reading about the newest versions, and enhancements of each SP but I still have some doubts.

If I´m not running HANNA and I don´t have intention of doing it, ¿is there any reason to go for: 7.4 - SP11 instead of 7.31 - SP16?

Reading other post and documents, I have come to understand that the only difference between SAP PO 7.4 and SAP PO 7.31, is that SAP PO 7.4 is optimized in case you want to use HANNA as underliyng Database. is this right?

Hello Carlos,

Since you don't plan to migrate PO database to HANA and keeping in mind the fact that from functional perspective, PO 7.31 and PO 7.4 share same code lines, I don't see reason in upgrading to 7.4 for you. Keeping your system on release 7.31 up to date (with recent Support Packages implemented and patches applied) is sufficient.

HI all,

Even the NWDS for PI 7.4 is the NWDS 7.31 with 5 SP of difference. At day of today there are not differences at the rest of SCN members said.

Hi Carlos,

Yes, the core engine of PI 7.31 & 7.4 are same.

Almost all, both have the same features except that PI 7.4 runs on Hana db.

PI 7.4 is optimized to use Hana db, but it can also work with other db's too.

Just update your SP level to the latest SP level of 7.31 version.
