SAPscript barcode printing.

I am having some issues printing a barcode in Sapscript on SAPWIN/SWIN(LOCL on access method 'G')

This barcode is C128A(found on SE73) which is part of 'new bar code technology.  When we print it on SAPWIN/SWIN , barcodes prints  as shown below(lower barcode) but it doesn't scan .  When we print it through a device type for XEROX(Device type XRW001) , its scanning without any issues.

If you look at the barcodes clearly, you can clearly see that the top start with a 'thick' bar , while the lower stars with a 'thin' bar.  Why is this?

How can we  use SAPWIN/SWIN to print the correct bardcode?

thanks

Hi,

I'm guessing here, because I have not had similar problems or tried it myself, but:

- check if device type from  1079665 - Missing formats and bar codes in SAPWIN device types is newer than the one on your system (note is relevant for up to including SAP Basis 720).

- try the device type from 1866491 - Changes to device type SWINCF

ok thanks. I will apply the notes and see what happens.

I just realized something . We have 2 types of printer. A large  Xerox colorcube 9301 and the other small personal Xerox 3250. Oddly enough, the barcodes print fine on the small printer with SAPWIN but the larger printer is gives me the as described on the 1st post(barcode printing but wrong) .

any ideas? If I use the devide type XRW001 , barcode works on both, but I want to try to keep it as SAPWIN or SWIN

Hi,

No, actually - that sounds weird. I thought that 'new barcode technology' involved SAP generating barcode as bitmap internally, but there does still seem to be some device type dependency involved then.

What you also could do is create small testform containing nothing but a barcode and try to see if raw OTF spool contents and/or the file sent to printer gives some clue.

I'd be sticking with appropriate Xerox device types as much as possible, mainly for support reasons (the specialists at our local Xerox I had to deal with were very capable).
