Hello All,
What is the difference between Hot standby and standby in SAP HANA?
Does Installing HANA on gpfs makes it a Hot standby and Installing on other file systems makes it standby?
Any information is appreciated
Regards,
Dheeraj
I am not too used about the terms "hot standby" and "standby" in SAP HANA environments, but finally it should be linked to SAP HANA system replication environments. See SAP Note 1999880 for more information. You have different levels of synchronization. If you know Oracle data guard, you can compare it this way (Oracle -> HANA):
- MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE -> ASYNC
- MAXIMUM AVAILABILITY -> SYNC
- MAXIMUM PROTECTION-> SYNC full-sync

Okay, I see, you mean standby node, not standby database. Where have you read about a "hot standby node"? I can't find it in the high availability document at http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-60334.
