Implementation of Service Packs, Patches and Notes

We are using a CAL Solution of SAP BW 7.4 SP5. Currently we want to upgrad this existing instance regarding several Service Packs (or Patches/Notes).

What is the recommended procedure for upgradings in the CAL context?

Hi Tobias,

Are you using a trial solution or a paid subscription?

It is "not" allowed to update/upgrade a trial solution as per the terms & conditions.

However, you can do that for paid subscriptions just like you would do it for an SAP system in your own data center.

Hope this helps and lemme know if you have further questions.

Best Regards,

Adarsh

Hi Adarsh,

thank you for your response. Of course we are using a paid subscription.

According to our „Agreement for Use of SAP Cloud Appliance Library – SAP Virtual Appliances” sodtware updates and patches will proactivly be applied by SAP.

Kind regards

Tobias

Hi Tobias,

what we mean by proactively applying the updates is : we keep updating the current solutions to the latest SP/EHP levels as and when possible/required.

For example: when the new SPS will be officially available for HANA platform, and it's been officially released/validated, we will plan to update and release the new version for this solution in CAL. So you might see HANA dev edition SPS08 solutions at one time and few weeks/months later you would see HANA dev edition SPS09 in CAL.

Once you create your own instance/copy of a specific SAP solution in your personal cloud account, you will be responsible for updating it (it's just like your own SAP system then).

At a later point, if a new updated version of the same solution is available in CAL, you will have to create a new instance of that updated solution.

Hope this answers your question?

Best Regards,

Adarsh
