SMP Server not starting after upgrade

Dear Expers,

I have upgraded PL02 yesterday in SP07 of SMP.

After the upgrade, server hanged at 99% of starting the smp server state.

when I see the logs,

Question 1: Can anyone help me starting the server.

Question 2: How can I revert the Patch upgrade.

Please help.

Hi Ady,

This error is nothing new to me. Have seen it many times while applying PL to SMP server.

Whenever i get this error, i retry applying PL and it works. (SMP server should not be running) What about you?

There is an SAP Note 2176961 on this.

If you have not yet attempted to upgrade to SP07 PL02, delete the folder <SMP_HOME>/Util/upgrade before applying the patch.
If you have already attempted to upgrade to SP07 PL02, perform the following steps.

End the SAP Mobile Platform Server installer and java processes, if running.
Back up <SMP_HOME>/Server/configuration/org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator/bundles.info.
Copy <SMP_HOME>/backup-server-3.0.7.0/Server/configuration/org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator/bundles.info to <SMP_HOME>/Server/configuration/org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator/bundles.info.
Remove the following text from <SMP_HOME>/smp_product_info.xml, if it exists:
<product compatibilityVersions="3.0.7.0" name="SMPServer" version="3.0.7.2">
<component active="true" name="sapjvm"/>
<component active="true" name="server"/>
</product>
Upgrade directly to SP07 PL03.

I have tried to fix the problem as suggested above, but still i am failing to start the server.

Now the error log says,

Is there anything else I need to revert back to SP07 and revert to previous patch.

unlucky you

I will highly suggest you to open a support ticket for your issue.

I have never downgraded/reverted back to any installed server, when you apply a SP or PL, SMP creates a back-up folder, you may have to copy that folder to the existing SMP3 installation path. BUT NOT SURE WHAT WILL BE THE CONSEQUENCES.

My recommendations:

• There is also PL03 available for SP07, you may try with that OR
• We may see SMP3 server SP08 release in couple of days.

Were you able to resolve your issue? Just fyi SMP 3.0 SP08 server is live.
