Time Dependency in CRM and ISU

Hi Everybody,

This is very nice topic. I want to know the best and right configuration of time dependency in ISU or CRM systems. As utilities master guide it says apply 1162804 note which is saying activate time dependency in ISU for not having movein-out errors.

  • 1162804 - FG_PART: Time dependency of the business partner in IS-U ,year: 2008

Activate the time dependency of the business partner in Customizing by choosing

Cross-Application Components --> SAP Business Partner --> Activation Switch for Functions

for BUT000, BUT020, BUT0BK, and BUT100

in tb056

Then if we look at CRM also there are specific problems of not activating time dependency in CRM system.

  • R11 244 (Error for validity periods of addresses )
  • R11 349 (Data set &1 for BP &2 maintained time-dependently,despite inact.time dep.)

Note 882726 - SAP BP: Error message R11 244 (BP Transaction + BAPIs)

Note 1380576 - ECC BP to CRM BP address repln fails due to validity periods

Note 1691224 - HRALX: Error message R11 349 when creating BP for org.unit

Note 2063110 - Data set for BP maintained time-dependently

If we look at some OSS notes it says not activate time dependency.

  • Note 810634 - Business partner data: Activation of time dependency, Year 2008

In CRM Release 5.0 and higher, the time dependency of BUT000 is not supported. Therefore, you cannot change this switch.

In general, the time dependency of other data parts in CRM should not be activated because no applications respond to this time-dependency. However, if an OLTP system is connected in which the business partner attributes are used time-dependently, the time dependency can be activated to keep the master data synchronous in both systems.

Very confusing. What is best configuration? Which settings active in you using in your systems for not facing any problems?

Hey Yunus,

We've has IS-U since 2009.  Currently CRM EHP3 / ECC EHP6.

I can tell you we've never messed with any of that time dependency stuff.

are you having a specific issue, or just wondering?

We are now in CRM 7.0 Ehp0- ECC ehp5 we are facing r11 244 error for years. We'll have a fresh installation crm 7.0 ehp 3 - ecc ehp 7. I want to start with a correct config. What is your isu and crm settings in tb056? Can you share please? Which tables are active for time dependent? Thanks

Dear Yunus,

Time dependency if once activated cannot be reversed. And if you have one of ECC/ CRM with time dependency activated with the other one not, then you are in for big trouble.

From what you have mentioned, I get the idea that you are going for a fresh implementation of both ECC and CRM systems. If it is, the best approach is to go with time dependency activated in both systems. You will have some data which may not be time dependent in ECC. Hence, first do a data cleansing in ECC and after some dry runs with data migration, you can replicate Master Data to CRM. Of course with time dependency activated in CRM as well.

We had also faced the issue in the past when time dependency was not activated in ECC initially. Then we had some data which had to be time dependent. These lead to so many Master data in error. After a reimplementation, we cleansed the data in accordance with time dependence, activated time dependency in ECC before initial data migration and did the same for CRM.
