New Coding mask configuration - SAP recmonded best practise

Hi All,

I need a small clarification on creating new(Project key and mask) coding mask :-  what is the best practise,

1. Moving the configuration by transport or

2. Manually confirguring in DEV/QA/PRD systems ?

If 1or 2 then please provide the pros & cons.

Dear,

Its always suggestable to move the CODING MASK through transport request.Because you can see the same data in all the clients and helps every user and consultant to have consistency in the configuration data.

Not only coding mask any configuration change needs to be transported through request and test in test and quality system and then move to PRODUCTION system.This helps to replicate same scenario in all clients if you have same configuration data across all clients.

Please check with your BASIS/Security consultant.

Option 1 is the recommended one in certain cases. But there are other instance where we are supposed to follow option 2 for ex. factory calendar (SCAL).

You need to be real careful when transporting coding masks

Errors with the coding mask will not show during a transport

There are a few notes that will help (read 158714 first)
