Can anyone help with &SEARCH& function in Profile Generator (PFCG) does not work on Network File directories.

In NWBC Version 4.0 PL 12, we are setting a URL link that points to a file share on our intranet. Currently there is no File Search Functionality that can be performed within the tab/window that opens in NWBC.

Actions Taken:

We attempted to setup a search provider configuration by updating the role in PFCG with a URL to the existing links.

Question:

Is there a reason we cannot get the Search Provider to work with a file share or is there another process available to search for files within our file share.

Hi Vickie,

Not 100% clear on what you've done so far. My understanding of this feature in NWBC is that if you can define a target URL that will take a query string parameter in the URL as the search term you can configure that URL (via PFCG) so that the user can type the search term in the quick launch area of NWBC (desktop) and choose to trigger a search using the search provider you defined.

NWBC will pass the string your user has typed in the box to the page you defined in the URL as a query string parameter. The target page then performs the search as if the user had navigated to the page and typed in the query and hit search...
