Hello,
The question is can we speedup this step? When it was running during test upgrade (4.6C -> ECC 6.0), we saw only 1 job/task active for the most of the time even we had chosen 3 DDL and 4 background jobs.
Does anyone has any indication for total upgrade time, for below system:
1,8 TB database, 6 Power CPU, 34 GB memory.
How much time your upgrade took?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Luis,
one more thing ...
if you are not happy on the following situation, that you often see during PARCON_UPG:
<code>
TP AAZOFR BCI 0,0 PGM-tp TIMW
TP AAZOFR BCI 0,0 PGM-tp TIMW
TP AAZOFR BCI 0,0 PGM-tp TIMW
TP AAZOFR BCI 0,0 PGM-tp TIMW
TP AAZOFR BCI 10,8 PGM-tp RUN
</code>
or
TP BCI 2 30 46,9 32188 1,3
TP BCI 2 30 210,0 17 0,0
TP BCI 2 30 49,5 16 0,0
TP BCI 2 30 240,8 17 0,0
TP BCI 2 30 9,1 19122 0,7
or
TP AAZOFR BCI 1,3 PGM-tp LCKW
TP AAZOFR BCI 0,0 PGM-tp TIMW
TP AAZOFR BCI 0,0 PGM-tp TIMW
TP AAZOFR BCI 0,0 PGM-tp TIMW
TP AAZOFR BCI 0,7 PGM-tp TIMW
i.e.: More or less the whole time, all the parallel TPs are locking each other during PARCON_UPG and therefore lots of stuff seems to run in single threat instead of parallel. (mostly TIMW)
I would be more than happy, if this problem would be investigated as I see it at every upgrade and cannot believe, that this is "the perfect solution" ...

Hi Savas,
unfortunately this can happen during upgrades :-((
First of all, it is essential, that you are using at least the following SAPup:
SAPup version 7.00/2, build 24.056 <<< fix for the parallel PARCON_UPG
But as it is delivered as follows:
SR1: This is SAPup version 7.00/2, build 24.038
SR2: This is SAPup version 7.00/2, build 24.065
I guess, you are on a higher level ...
I always recommend the latest version right now:
This is SAPup version 7.00/2, build 24.074
How to find out the current version ? (as described in note 821032)
SAPUP UPGDIR('/usr/sap/put') PARMLIST('-V')
There are log files where you can see what which job did:
PDxxmmdd.<SID>
xx = number of TP (0-n)
mm = month of run
dd = day of run
=> e.g. :
PD000414.AAZ
PD010414.AAZ
PD020414.AAZ
PD030414.AAZ
PD040414.AAZ
There you can see each SQL, it's runtime and when it was run. Then it is interesting if your large tables ran in one SQL only ...
... but in an 1.8TB i5 this time is unfortunately nearly OK ...
