Hi Mates,

I Restarted our SAP system and the central instance is running fine, but the two application servers to that server are not starting. I tried to start the services manually but i am getting the following error and there is also pagefile.sys document that has been generated in main PRD system. I checked the permissions and those applications have administrator permissions but still they are not starting. Please do help.

Regards,

Adarsh

Hope it may help you .

Adarsh,

1) Check note 82751 and see whether it's helpful.

2) Your configuration looks like a Domain-less installation. Your OS account is local, not Domain account, right ? But you have a distributed installation (CI and DI on diff nodes). It is not recommend configuration. You better use Domain account to avoid permission issue on cross-server communication. OK, you probably can't change it, but you have to make sure the SAPService<SID> and <sid>adm account has same password on each nodes, and they shouldn't be expired.

3) If nothing is helpful, the last resort is to recreate the SAPMIP_13 service.

Hi Sriram,

1)I am able to ping the central host system to application system.

2)No, there is no fireall enabled in CI and i am able to login to CI by SAPGUI.

3)I really didnt understand the third step but i logged into host using SIDADM and i opened the run command and typed the CI host name i got a message saying we dont have access to that.

I am attaching the screen shot below.

Adarsh

Hi Adarsh

From the Application server at the time of Windows services stating time it will check the share in CI (share name - SAPMNT & SAPLoc).

On CI SAPSID & SAPServiceSID user id's  part of local administrator group?

Check the share permission.

Refer the SAP link Windows Operating System User Settings in an SAP System - SAP System Security on Windows - SAP Libra...

Hi Adarsh

1.  From your once of the application server you can ping the central host system?

2. Is this any firewall or UAC enable in CI or are you able to login in CI system by SAPGUI?

3. On your Application at OS level login SIDADM browse the CI host name (example \\hostname of CI )

Hi Sriram,

Yes, on both application instance SIDADM and SAPServiceSID are part of local administrators group.Last time we had faced the same problem that time we changed the particular services logon admin as .\SAPServiceMIP and ther service had started automatically. But this time it is not working..And i also want to know what this pagefile.sys is..it is getting generated in Main PRD system.I guess it was not there before.

Adarsh

Hi,

The "pagefile.sys" is where the Windows keeps the swap memory (extra memory beyond the limits of your server physical DRAM).

The size of it it's strange and quite large. What's your kernel version?

Hi Manuel,

My kernel version is 7.40. I am also confused since the size of the file is around 53gb.

Can i see any log for the errors??

Regards,

Adarsh.

Hi,

53GB for a SAP application server is quite usual...

What's the patch level of the kernel? Recently, SAP releasead some patches that solved some memory leaks.

The patch level is 60.

I dont know about new releases. But does it affect application servers??

Hi,

Kernel 7.40 is out of maintenance support by SAP. It's replaced by 7.41. Please check the links bellow:

Hi,

My first guesses will be to check disk space, network connectivity and TCP/IP port occupation.

Did you rebooted the servers? The application servers run on same machine of the message server?

Hi Manuel,

We have enough disk space..and the connection is also ok..Yes i rebooted the servers..The application servers run on different machine and are linked to central server.

Adarsh
