Impact of Fiori on Cloud Application Studio SDK

Former Member

Hi Everyone,

SAP had recently announced their strategic move towards SAP Fiori User Interface/User Experience for all their applications including SaaS offerings - Business ByDesign and Cloud for Customer (C4C). This is great news as the user experience is this new UI is excellent! It is simple, easy-to-use, responsive and will have bigger impact in terms of user-adoption of SAP solutions.

As of May'2015, SAP released Fiori simple/responsive UI for Cloud for Customer(C4C). It seems like ByD has also started it's journey in the same direction - at least for it's CRM functionality within ByD. You may refer to your own tenant's URL ending with HTML5/newclient.html:

C4C: https://myxxxxxx.crm.ondemand.com/sap/public/ap/ui/repository/SAP_BYD_UI/HTML5/newclient.html

ByD: https://myzzzzzz.sapbydesign.com/sap/public/ap/ui/repository/SAP_BYD_UI/HTML5/newclient.html

Note: C4C Fiori UI is functional but ByD is not - development may be in-progress?

My question is how does Fiori UI impact the custom application development process - especially related to using or not using the Cloud Application Studio (SDK)? For instance, if we want to add a new custom UI views/elements for a customer-specific requirement, how will this be realized with Fiori UI?

Will we use another SDK instead of Cloud Application Studio?

Will it be HANA Cloud Platform (HCP) WebIDE development?

Will it combination of Studio SDK with HCP WebIDE?

Is it something else?

Perhaps, we can also hear from folks at SAP.

Thanks.

Please refer the discussion on below link. It should be helpful for you to understand that you can continue using Cloud Application Studio. You can find SAP people saying the same.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. In Ankar's response there, it didn't explicitly mention Fiori so it would be nice to get some clarity.

Has anyone developed new Fiori UI views/elements for a customer-specific requirement in C4C?

Mirza.

Hi Mirza,

We have created custom business object and create embed component for Account screen In HTML5 and silverlight working fine.

After new UI released and check under the Account i can able to see my custom embed component into Responsive UI and its working fine.

But for Custom solution with custom screen not able to see in New UI because may be its Beta version and once its fully available to all then may be in next released we can able to see all custom development (Custom solution with Custom screen).

But as per my understanding you do not need to create any Fiori UI view/element to enable for Responsive UI.

You can check Chandan Comment and In that discussion mentioned we can continuously working on Cloud Application Studio.

I hope this will be helpful to you.

Regards,

Mithun

Hi Mirza,

yes, absolutey. SAP's Cloud Applications Studio (SDK) can be used to extend C4C. The outcome of these extension projects is always and immediately a ready-to-run app in SL, HTML5 and also the new responsive FIORI-based HTML5. Please sign-up for SAP's Cloud Solution Partner program ("in app extensions") to realize such C4C projects.

Sven, thanks for confirming it. Glad to know that partners can still use Studio SDK to extend Fiori UI.

Mirza.
