Local J2EE Development using NDS...

Former Member

Can I have input from individuals who came from and SAP/ABAP world and now work in the NDS world and use the local development feature. What are the pros/cons of doing this in NDS/WAS? We currently do this in our VS.Net world and in our current Java world. Are there things that we need to consider in the NDS/WAS world that would drive us away from doing this?

Thank you,

Hi Peggy,

if you look into this conceptually, there is no difference in what you do in VS.net. Concerning ABAP this is the wrong question. In ABAP you are inside the system, so it is much easier to access certain details. This means that ABAP users won't be attracted to use Java for their specific work.

At the same time it will be a rough task to convince other developers to switch to ABAP. This is much less a problem as we going rapidly into ESA, where the development environment is less important, you just use Enterprise serevcices to do your work.
